A man who was cut in half by a forklift at the age of 18 has shared an update on how he’s been getting on since the devastating accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren Schauers was working as a labourer in Montana<\/a> back in September 2019 when the forklift he had been driving veered off a bridge and plummeted 50ft to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren was trapped underneath the forklift and was amputated<\/a> below his waist in a bid to save his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accident changed Loren’s life forever, with the now 24-year-old regularly sharing his journey on social media<\/a>, and particularly over on YouTube<\/a>, where he shares a channel<\/a> with his wife, Sabia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Loren was 18, he was involved in a terrible accident while driving a forklift across a bridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suffering life changing injuries, Loren has since documented his road to recovery and his life afterwards, along with his wife, Sabia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple run their own YouTube channel where they tell people what their life is like and answer the burning questions people have about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened during the accident?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 18-year-old had been working on a bridge rehabilitation project at the time, which was reduced to a single lane and controlled by traffic lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Forklift Traffic London<\/a>, one of the orange water barriers on the bridge had been knocked off, and Loren was tasked with putting it back in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, due to a number of cars passing Loren too closely, he nudged the forklift too close to the edge, which led to the machinery toppling over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren tried to unbuckle his belt and jump out of the truck, but ended up getting stuck with the belt wrapped around his legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forklift fell 50 feet and landed on Loren’s hips and right forearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to survive, he had everything below his waist amputated, otherwise known as hemicorperectomy surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Instagram<\/a>, Loren said: “If you look closely in the second photo, you can see me still pinned under the forklift. Last photo is exactly what type it was I\u2019m sure of.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
